AR rescues Assam trader
Kohima: Assam Rifles has rescued a trader, who was kidnapped and held hostage allegedly by the cadres of GPRN/NSCN in a house in Burma Camp of Dimapur area since February 11. AR sources said here on Sunday James Goyari, a resident of Dekajuli in Assam’s Udalguri district, was kidnapped and kept blindfolded in the house by GPRN/NSCN cadres. Following a tip-off on Friday last, Assam Rifles launched a rescue operation along with police and freed James, AR sources said, adding, “Documents pertaining to extortion were also seized from the location.’ The release said, “When questioned, James Goyari revealed that the terrorists had demanded Rs five lakh as ransom and tortured him phisically.” James was handed over to East police station after proper medical care by the Assam Rifles, the release further added. IPPI programme
Itanagar: Aruanchal Pradesh Health and Family Welfare Minister Atum Welly on Sunday launched the Intensive Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) campaign in the state at Aruanchal State Hospital (ASH), here. The Minister inaugurated this flagship programme of Union government under National Immunisation Programme (NIP) by administering two polio drops to a child in the presence of director of Health service, Dr Kartik Nishing, Dr D Raina and others.
