Bangladeshis chase Muktapur residents

 Shillong: Residents from the border village of Muktapur in Jaintia Hills have complained that Bangladeshis belonging to the Bangladesh Border Group chased them away from the Kapling river area while they were out fishing on Sunday.

The Kapling River in Muktapur passes through the border between India and Bangladesh and according sources, the local residents frequent the place for fishing without any restrictions. However, in the incident that happened at around 12

noon on Sunday, residents from the Bangladeshi side of the border stopped the villagers from fishing and chased them away instead.

“The villagers have informed the BSF of the incident but no action has been taken till now,” the source added.
