Women writers’ meet in Imphal

IMPHAL:Women writers and poets of eastern India representing eight languages met and discussed the “changing scenario of the place of women in society as reflected in Eastern regional literature” on Thursday at State Guest House here.

The literary event was organised by Sahitya Akademi and Naharol Sahitya premee Samiti N Khagendra, Convenor of Manipuri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi inaugurated the seminar and congratulated women writers for their great works.

Vishwanath Prasad Tiwari, VP, Sahitya Akademi, Ramkumar Mukhopadhyay, Regional Secretary of the Akademi and P Nabachandra, president of the Samiti spoke about the contributions made by women writers.In the first session Lakshmi Nandan Bora took the chair and Mamoni Gogoi spoke about Assamese literature, while Bithi Chattopadhyay spoke about Bengali, Swarna Prabha Chainary about Bodo and Arambam Ibemhal about Manipuri literature.

In the second session Manabendra Bandyopadhyay took the chair and Lutfa Hanum Selima spoke about Assamese, Minakshi Sen about Bangali, Anju Basumatary about Bodo and Ch Sheelaramani about Manipur.(UNI)
