From Our Correspondent
NONGSTOIN: The former Chief Advisor of Mawkyrwat Block Congress Committee, Ronick Lyngdoh will be facing Rowell Lyngdoh the sitting MLA and Deputy Chief Minister in the 2013 assembly election. It is learnt that Ronick Lyngdoh will be contesting from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
It may here be mentioned that due to internal party feud within the Mawkyrwat Block Congress Committee, Ronickson Lyngdoh former Chief Advisor to the Block Congress has recently joined the NCP along with hundreds of Congress party workers from the same Assembly Constituency.
Ronickson Lyngdoh an affluent businessman of Mawkyrwat was recently allotted the NCP party ticket to contest the 2013 election from Mawkyrwat Assembly Constituency. This time sources say the Congress will find the going tough as the vote bank of the sitting MLA Rowell Lyngdoh has split with the exit of Ronickson.
Now the Mawkyrwat Assembly Constituency will witnesses a triangular contest between the Congress, NCP and HSPDP. Sources in the HSPDP say that the sitting MDC, Enbin K Raswai will be fielded by the party. Political analysts forecast a fair winning chance for Raswai.
Going by the present trend the winning chances of the NCP candidate is much brighter than that of the Congress. People have complained that the MLA schemes in the constituency have not been distributed judiciously. They allege that certain Congress party workers close to the sitting MLA are monopolizing all the MLA developmental schemes of the constituency. The public are reportedly said to be fed up with the style of functioning of the Congress party workers and the nepotism and favoritism in every sphere of their activities.
Local residents say that while the Congress is committed to secularism, minority rights and pro-poor policies, the ground level workers are not practicing these ideals of the Party. This they say has alienated the poor people.
