Shillong: Following the one-week deadline issued by the ANVC to the State Government to make known the status of their demand for creation of a Garoland Autonomous Council in Garo Hills, the State Government has assured the ANVC that the matter would be taken up after the Budget session of the Assembly.

An ANVC source on Wednesday said that the Chief Minister has personally intimated to the ANVC that the matter would be taken up after the Budget session. “We will wait and watch the steps taken by the State Government after the Budget session,” the ANVC source added.

The outfit, had, earlier warned that it would go back to its earlier demand for a separate Garo state if the State Government fails to make known its decision on their demand for a Garo Autonomous Council.
