Kolkata: Five Maoists from Andhra Pradesh were arrested from various parts of this West bengal capital city in a day-long operation, police said on Thursday.

Greyhounds, an elite commando force of Andhra Pradesh, assisted by the Special Task Force(STF) of Kolkata Police, nabbed the five rebels from different parts of the city during a secret operation that started Wednesday morning and continued till the early hours of Thursday. The five were Thursday presented before a city court, which remanded them in police custody till March 13. The operation turned dramatic Wednesday morning after one of the suspects was forcibly lifted off by the cops and carried away in a car in broad daylight from College Street, one of the busiest parts of the city, prompting bystanders to call it an abduction.
