New Delhi: Falak, the two-year-old battered baby who has been battling for survival at the premier AIIMS Trauma Centre here, has shown signs of improvement and is likely to be discharged soon, said a doctor looking after her for the past almost month-and-half.

“She is showing body movements and moving her limbs, she has survived now,” Deepak Agrawal, assistant professor (neurosurgery) at the AIIMS Trauma Centre, told IANS Saturday.

Falak, who was admitted to the AIIMS Jan 18 with a fractured skull, bruises and human bite marks all over her body, has undergone five life saving surgeries. A teenager, claiming to be her mother, got her admitted to the hospital.

“Her infection and breathing problem is under control, but she is sub-conscious and still in coma,” said Agrawal who, with a team of 10 resident doctors, has been closely monitoring Falak for the past 43 days.

Agrawal also said that Falak can be discharged soon: “She is doing fine, soon we can declare her fit to be discharged from the hospital.”

The doctors attending on her earlier said that she may be moved out of the intensive care unit in a couple of days. (IANS)
