NCP gets major boost; social worker, his supporters join party

SHILLONG: Just before the upcoming 2013 State elections, the National Congress Party (NCP) received a major boost as social worker Sosthenis Sohtun along with his many supporters joined the NCP in the Block Level Conference of the party held at Jirang on Saturday.

Speaking at the conference , Sosthenis Sohtun stressed on the need to bring all round development to Jirang Constituency and to ensure that all communities live in peace and harmony.

It may be mentioned that Sohtun has been an active social worker in Jirang and has been involved in a number of social programmes and developmental works.

NCP National General Secretary PA Sangma while addressing the gathering said that young and dynamic people are required to join politics to see a change in the State.

PA Sangma also spoke on the need to develop border areas and mentioned that NCP is determined to work towards the development of border areas.

“If necessary we will form a new department for Inter State Border development,” PA Sangma added while addressing the gathering.

The other NCP leaders who attended the Block Level Conference include Agatha Sangma, Thomas Sangma, Conrad Sangma, Dr. W Kharshiing, Paiem, Laborius Syiem and others.
