Aizawl: Mizoram offers a peaceful environment and business-friendly climate to investors, especially in the Food Processing industry, state Horticulture Minister H Liansailova said.

“There is not much problem in production. But the state farmers are facing marketing problems. Therefore, the need of the hour is food processing industries to enable the farmers to sell their products outside the state,” Liansailova said, while addressing a Mizoram Food Processing: Investors’ Meet here on Monday.

The day-long programme, organised by Indian Chamber of Commerce, Kolkata, and the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), in collaboration with the state government, aimed at attracting investors from India and abroad in food processing.

The Minister pointed out that the state government was unable to realise its vision in industrial development due to poor infrastructure in transportation, communication and electricity.

“Mizoram offers huge opportunities to the investors from within and outside the state if they are interested in investing in the state,” he said.

State Industries Minister S Hiato, who addressed the meet as a guest of honour, expressed regret that the state government’s initiatives to develop food processing industry through the state PSUs had so far borne no desired result.

The Industries Minister also urged the investors to take advantage of subsidy schemes offered by the Central Government in the Northeast states. (UNI)
