Maya’s assets touch Rs 111 crore mark, doubles in 5 years

Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has total assets worth over Rs 111.64 crore, which has more than doubled during her fourth tenure as chief minister of Uttar Pradesh since 2007.

Her assets have increased by Rs 24 crore just two years and by Rs 35 crore in last three years, a phenomenal rise by any means.

According to the affidavit filed along with her nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections here today, Ms Mayawati’s assets now have touched Rs 111.64 crore which was over Rs 87 crore in 2010.

The leader had disclosed assets worth over Rs 52.27 crore when she took over as the Chief Minister of UP for the fourth time in 2007.

The outgoing UP CM, has Rs 10.20 lakh in cash and bank deposits of Rs 14.94 crore. She does not possess agricultural and non-agricultural land and has no vehicle. Ms Mayawati has also not opted for an LIC policy, nor does she possess any other financial instrument such as National Savings Scheme or postal savings.

The affidavit disclosed that, the BSP chief owns two commercial properties in the posh Connaught Place area of the national capital. These are: No. B-34,(ground floor) Connaught Place, measuring 3628.02 square feet, valued at Rs 9.39 crore and Number B-34, Ist floor, Connaught Place, measuring 4535.02 sq.ft, valued at Rs 9.45 crore.

Ms Mayawati has a house in New Delhi whose address has been given as Number 23, 24, SP Marg, New Delhi and measures 42907.87 square feet, valued at Rs 61.86 crore. Ms Mayawati’s bungalow in Lucknow is situated on 9, Mall Avenue and measures 71282.96 Sq feet. It is valued at Rs 15.68 crore.

Surprisingly, the purchase date of the Delhi bungalow was shown as July 6, 2009 while that of the Lucknow Mall Avenue bunglow on November 3, 2010. She has also made investments by way of development and construction in these bungalows of Rs 7.78 crore.

She had filed her Income Tax return for the financial year 2010-11 and has shown income of Rs 6,51,53,538.

Ms Mayawati also has 1034.260 grams gold and diamonds of 380.17 carats, which are valued at Rs 96.53 lakh. She also has a 18.500 kilogram silver dinner set, which is valued at Rs 9.32 lakh. The Chief Minister also possesses murals worth Rs 15 lakh.

The BSP president also have a revolver which worth only Rs 5,390.

She has also disclosed to have received Rs 38,70,900 from Bata India Ltd and Rs 48,97,824 from V C Solutions Pvt Ltd as tenant security deposits for her Connaught Place commercial assets.

A graduate from Kalindi College, Delhi University, Ms Mayawati did her B.Ed. in 1976 from the Meerut University and LL.B from the Delhi University in 1983.

Meanwhile, another BSP candidate Munquad Ali, who also filed his nominations along with Ms Mayawati has over Rs 1.44 crore assets which included Rs 74,71,094 as cash and investment. He also have two rifles besides 10.42 grams of gold jewellery.

Mr Ali, who is presently the Rajya Sabha member of the BSP, has agricutlural land worth over Rs 25 lakhs besides Rs 45 lakhs worth other properties. He also has agriculture loan against him of Rs 1.67 lakhs and personal loan of over Rs 22 lakhs. Showing himself as self employed and agriculturist, the BSP candidate has filed his Income Tax return for the financial year 2010-11 with showing total income of Rs 9,26,690. (UNI)
