Rs 97.14-cr deficit JHADC budget tabled

 JOWAI: A Rs 97.14-crore deficit budget was tabled in the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) on the first day of the budget session on Tuesday.

The EM In-charge Financial Affairs, Qually Suiam tabling the budget in the House said, “The estimated expenditures of Rs. 97.13 crore for 2012-13 financial year bears a deficit of Rs 11.92 crore, which is Rs. 3.99 crore less than the budget estimate of the current financial year”.

Five members of the 30-member House including the lone Opposition member Moonlight Pariat, former CEM Hambertus Nongtdu were absent during the presentation of the Budget. Two bills — Constitution of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (Amendment) 2012 and the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (Members Pension, Third Amendment) Bill 2010 — were tabled in the House on the first day.
