School student among two killed in road mishap

 NONGSTOIN: Two persons including a school student were crushed to death when a truck capsized on the middle of the road at around 9 am on Thursday at Nonglwai village, about 12 km from Nongstoin in West Khasi Hills district.

According to eyewitnesses, the truck (ML 05D -8745) driven by one Pholdingstar Dkhar (50) was carrying logs of wood and six people including three students of Joel Gatphoh Secondary School were also travelling on the truck.

The deceased were identified as Batskhemlang Kharbani (14), who was in his school uniform and Restarwell Iawphniaw (23).

The injured were identified as Klinsman K Bani (16) and Pynshaiborlang Jyndiang (14), both students of the same school and Twingborlin K Bani (32), all residents of Nonglwai village.

The injured were admitted at Nongstoin Hospital while Klinsman K Bani, who sustained serious injuries, was referred to Shillong for better treatment.
