NONGPOH: Crusader of clean politics in the State, Nongkrem legislator Ardent Basiawmoit on Thursday conducted a public meeting at Iew Umroi, about 55 kilometers from here.

Addressing the gathering, Basiawmoit called upon the electorate to judiciously use their voting right in the upcoming assembly election by keeping in mind the character, the integrity and the image of the person he or she wants to vote.

He also said they should ascertain whether the person whom they would elect is compassionate and understanding towards their problems and grievances.

Lashing out against the use of liquor during election time, the former FKJGP president exhorted the people to desist from all social vices such as drinking, gambling and others as they all have an adverse effect on the society and moreover candidates do try to lure people with liquor.

Rev Kyrsoi Pyrtuh urged the people not to be swayed away by money during election time as for a few hundred rupees they should not put their future at stake by electing candidates who can buy votes.

The meeting was presided over by Clean Politics Campaign Committee general secretary S Ranee.
