SHILLONG: World Health Day was celebrated in the composite Hospital BSF Umpling on Saturday.
Children Health check-up,Voluntary blood donation and a talk on communicable diseases, HIV/AIDs, Malaria, TB, Women health related issues were organized on the occasion.
Voluntary blood donation was organized at Composite Hospital in collaboration with NEIGRIHMS. Large number of Officers and men enthusiastically came forward for this noble cause.
IPS, IG BSF, Meghalaya Ftr Sudesh Kumar inaugurated the blood donation camp and stressed upon the need for the medical help for the poor people and intimated that BSF doctors visiting the border areas are attending the civil people along-with the BSF personnel.
Director NEIGRIHMS Dr Santa Singh in his thanks giving speech expressed his gratitude to the BSF for being always ready to the call of the society and for fulfilling the much needed requirement of blood to the Blood Bank of NEIGRIHMS. Each volunteer was given a rich refreshment of fruit juices, eggs, sweets cookies after blood donation.
Approx 85 School children of Class IX & X of BSF Sr. Secondary School turned up in BSF Composite Hospital for health check-up.
In the General Health check-up, BP, Vision and Dental hygiene were examined and appropriate advice was given by Dr HemantChetia, Dr Rekibuddin Ahmed, Dr S Syiem and Dr Ma Laneila of BSF.
