I have decided to stay in UDP, says Metbah

 SHILLONG: Mairang MLA Metbah Lyngdoh has ruled out joining Congress saying “I have decided to stay in UDP.”

“There is no denial of the fact that I am close to Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma and other Congress leaders. But this does not mean that I have any intention to join Congress,” Lyngdoh said in a statement issued here on Monday.

He also further denied that there has never been a single occasion where he had held a discussion with the Congress leaders about his joining the party. Earlier, the UDP had sought a clarification from its party legislator over his reported plan to join Congress. It was earlier reported that the Mairang legislator is all set to join the Congress. Lyngdoh held a meeting with his supporters to convey his intention to join Congress on March 24, the report had said.
