From Our Correspondent

NONGPOH: Baffled over the non supply of wheat in the whole state in general and Ri Bhoi District in particular under the Public Distribution System (PDS) by the State Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, the Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CORP) has decided to seek information under the Right to Information Act 2005 to elicit vital information pertaining to non supply of wheat.

Disclosing this to this scribe, CORP President Doris Sulein said that they would seek information pertaining to non supply of wheat to the people from 2008 to 2012.

He also wondered why the Department failed to ensure timely supply of wheat to the consumer.

The CORP supremo informed that they would seek information on the total allotment of wheat to the State from the centre, the total allotment of wheat from the State to the chakki mills, the numbers and names of chakki mills allotted in the state and whether the chakki mills supply atta to the dealers and the dealers to the Fair Price Shops and the total sanction of wheat for distribution to the people among other questions.

Sulein warned of dire consequences if the organisation detects any anomalies over the supply of wheat under PDS and said the minister concerned should be held accountable for any lapses.
