Record price for new season tea

Guwahati: A tea garden, Madhupur Tea Estate in Assam’s Lakhimpur District, received a record price of new season tea at Guwahati Tea Auction Centre(GTAC). CTC tea of Broken Pekoe (BP) grade sold in sale number 15 sold at Rs 281 per kg yesterday which is an all time record for the year 2012, GTAC sources said here today.

In the same sale, CTC tea of Pekoe Dust (PD) grade of Madhupur Tea Estate sold at Rs 236 per kg, which is an all time record of GTAC. The tea was sold by J Thomas and Company Private Limited. Madhupur Tea Estate is a member garden of Assam Tea Planters’ Association (ATPA). (PTI)
