Kohima: The NSCN (IM) has accused the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of trying to derail the cease-fire agreement between the Centre and the underground faction.

In a statement on Saturday, NSCN leaders alleged MHA Joint Secretary (North East) Shambhu Singh is ‘feeding’ Prime Minister’s office at Delhi with inputs against the Nagas in the interest of Meiteis and himself so that he could become the chief secretary of Manipur.

‘For Shambu Singh, cease fire and Naga solution is not important, his interest lies in becoming the chief secretary of Manipur and this is all set up by Shambu Singh,’ alleged NSCN (I-M) leaders.

The statement further alleged that the Cease Fire Monitoring Groups (CFMG) Chairman Maj Gen (Retd) N George was acting ‘biased’ and said the chairman was acting on behalf of the Assam Rifles wherein he was meant to be the moderator between the Centre and the NSCN. The NSCN (I-M) leaders also alleged that the Central Government was of the view that Naga people were not in support of NSCN and hence cordoning off their designated camps would lead them to ‘surrender’.
