Guwahati: A Budget Analysis Meeting on GAAR and Service Tax will be organized in Guwahati today. The meeting is being organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce(ICC) and leading consultancy firm Khaitan & Co.
The Central Budget 2012-13 has made several important changes in the provisions of Service tax. All services have now been brought under the tax net barring the few which are in the negative list, which also is a new concept. The amendment could not only have the effect of unsettling many settled cases and international transactions, but may also adversely impact prospects of foreign investments in the country. Mr N G Khaitan, Mr Dipen Chatterjee, Mr Shounak Mitra, Mr Arvind Baheti and Mr Ashim Choudhury of Khaitan & Co. will conduct the meeting. (UNI)
