SHILLONG: The State police have decided to beef up security in various parts of the city in view of the three-day night road blockade called by the NGOs starting from Monday.

The blockade would be effective from 7 pm till 5 pm of the following day.

When contacted on Sunday, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, AR Mawthoh, informed that police would increase patrolling in various parts of the city especially during the hours of the night road blockade to prevent any untoward incident.

“We would also be conducting checking of vehicles at various sensitive points of the city,” Mawthoh said.

When asked if they have sought any additional forces, the SP said that they have not sought for additional forces as they have enough forces at hand to carry out the job.
