Section 144 CrPC promulgated

In view of the night blockade called by the agitating social organisations from Aril 30 to May 2 in East Khasi Hills District, the district magistrate of East Khasi Hills has issued an order under section 144 CrPC prohibiting the assembly of five or more persons, obstructing of vehicular movement by any person or group of persons and carrying of arms and other lethal weapons. The order shall come into immediate effect and will remain in force from 7pm till 5am of the above mentioned days in the entire district.

 Buddha Jayanti

The Shillong Buddhist Association will celebrate the 5556 Buddha Jayanti on May 6 with a day long function. Milk and bread will also be distributed among various orphanage on May 5 on the occasion.

 Opening of Border Haat

The opening of the Border Haat at Balat, East Khasi District will be held on Tuesday at 11am at the Border Haat premises.

 Foundation Day

The Netaji Pathagar, one of the oldest libraries in Shillong, is celebrating its Foundation Day on May 5th 2012 at Rilbong Community Hall from 5.30pm onwards. The library has been serving the public for the last 66 years with a collection of over 25,000 books.

 Juliet and Romeo

Due to the proposed Road Blockade Agitation, the Musical Play “Juliet and Romeo” was held on April 30th at 5pm instead of 6pm.
