Lapang inaugurates internal road at Mawkangi

 NONGPOH: Chief Adviser to the government of Meghalaya and also the President of MPCC D. D. Lapang on Friday inaugurated the internal road of Mawkangi village which is constructed under the NREGS at an amount of Rs.16 lakh.

Speaking on the occasion D.D. Lapang expressed his pleasure to associate himself with the residents of Mawkangi village, he also appreciated the sincerity of the village elders and the local leaders in proper utilization of the government schemes and funds for development activities.

Lapang also said that the government has implemented many schemes and projects through agriculture and horticulture departments, therefore it is the duty of each and every one to take the opportunity and tap the resources and farming technology provided by the government so that they may become self-sufficient and alleviate poverty.

He urged the village community to maintain the spirit of cooperation, understanding and hard work for their future prosperity.

Lapang stated that education is a must for every child, and that with the cooperation of parents, teachers and students the literacy rate might increase manifold, hence, he called upon the students to work hard and aim high so that they can succeed in life.

While answering to their needs like playground, community hall, extension of PMGSY road, he assured that the matter would be taken up at the earliest.

He called upon the people to come forward and work together with the government for further developments.

Other dignitaries present were C.B Syiem, Ex MDC of Nongpoh Constituency, A. Marbaniang, E.E PWD, D. Umdor, E.E PHE, S. Najain, S.D.O PHE, and S. Massar, S.D.O, PWD.

The programme was also attended by the village elders, headmen of various villages and local populace.
