Shillong: The prolonged bandh call by Garo Hills based terror outfit Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA), besides adversely affecting the poor people, is also instrumental in delaying the results of the SSLC and the HSSLC (Arts) examinations 2012 conducted by the Meghalaya Board Of School Education (MBOSE).
West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Pravin Bakshi, who is also holding additional charge of Executive Chairman of MBOSE for two months, said that the bandh has led to the results being delayed, even as he stated that the results will be further delayed.
“Earlier we had planned to declare the results of both the examinations by May 10 but now the results will be delayed,” he said while speaking to The Shillong Times. The Board had declared the results of the HSSLC (Science and Commerce) examinations 2012 on April 26.
Meanwhile, Bakshi also attributed the delay in declaration of the results to the power shut down in Garo Hills. Reacting to a query about any tentative date for declaring the results, the official declined from giving any timeline, even though he mentioned that MBOSE would be making all efforts to ensure that the results are declared at the earliest.
Bakshi is heading the MBOSE in the absence of Executive Chairman, EP Kharbih, who has gone to Mussoorie for a two-month training.
It may be noted that the GNLA has again called for a 300-hour bandh in Garo Hills effective from Monday onwards.
