Guwahati: The anti-talks faction of the proscribed United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) on Thursday flayed the police and security forces of ‘colonial Indian government’ for killing four Assamese youths in the name of operation against Maoists at Sadiya in Tinsukia district of the State on Wednesday.

In a statement issued to the media, the ULFA stated that failure of India democracy to uplift the majority of masses has led to upsurge of Maoist movement in the country. “Though we have differences in principle, we have moral support to Maoist movement against the common enemy, Indian government. We extend our condolence to the families of the slain Maoist leaders,” the ULFA stated.

The insurgent group accused the government of India of adopting double standard in tackling the Maoist menace in the rest of the country and Assam. “In the rest of the country, the government of India opts for striking understanding with Maoist to get abducted VIPs released while in Assam, it has not thought twice before killing Maoist leaders at Sadiya on Wednesday.”

The ULFA alleged that killing of Assamese youths on Wednesday once again exposed ‘colonial’ (Indian) government’s belligerent attitude of Government of India to the people of Assam. It called upon Assam police to stop killing Assamese youths at the dictation of New Delhi.
