SHILLONG: One woman identified as Rynjeta Mawiong (28) was brutally murdered by her husband, Stanjoy Sohkhwai at their residence in Sohkyrbam, Ri Bhoi District (5km away from Patharkhmah) on Wednesday night.
According to sources, the incident took place at around 10 pm on Wednesday night. The woman was strangled to death by her husband who later said that it was a suicide case. Police sources said that there were injury marks on the victim’s neck, her back and parts of her thigh.According to the villagers, the accused, after committing the heinous crime informed the people that his wife’s death was a case of suicide but however, when the villagers went inside the house, they found that her body was lying on the bed.On Thursday morning, however, the culprit, Sohkhwai surrendered at Patharkhmah Police Out Post and investigation is on in this matter.
