NONGPOH: A restaurant owner was murdered by unidentified miscreants at Khanapara on Saturday, while two bodies were recovered from the road side at Shangbangla village in Ri Bhoi district on Sunday.

In the first case, one Binit Kumar Singh, 32, owner of Blackberry Restaurant in Khanapara, was found murdered inside his restaurant on Saturday.

According to police, the victim was axed to death with a dao (machete) used for chopping meat. Police suspect the role of an absconding employee of the restaurant in the murder. The victim’s gold chain, mobile phone and some electronic gadgets and other goods were missing. The body was shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for post mortem and police have registered a case.

In the other case, two unidentified non-tribal male bodies were recovered from National Highway 40 at Shangbangla Village under Nongpoh Police Station in the wee hours of Sunday.

According to police, both the victims were murdered somewhere else and their bodies were later dumped on the road side. The miscreants had tied the hands, legs and gagged the mouths of the victims, police informed, adding both the victims died after being strangulated.

Earlier, police had recovered two bodies from Jyntru village in Ri Bhoi.
