The Unitarian Church of North East India as part of its quasquicentennial celebration is organising a run captioned ‘Green Run’ on May 26 at 8am to be flagged off by Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker Charles Pyngrope. The run is being organized primarily to create a mass awareness of and sensitize the people to the dire and urgent need of preserving the environment and bringing back the disappearing foliage.

The Shillong Times first appeared as a tabloid weekly on 10th August 1945 under the editorship of Late Sudhindra Bhusan Chaudhuri. In 1958 it was converted to a Daily. Owing to financial constraints, within six months it reverted back to a weekly.
