Guwahati: Two time former chief minister and president of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP)Prafulla Mahanta today asked the regional forces in the north-eastern region to reunite for countering, what he described as, the “misrule” of the Congress.

“The regional forces that has worked for the interest of the local people should unite and fight the misrule of the Congress party”, Mahanta told the ninth triennial conference of the party here. Speaking at a party meeting after being re-elected as the party president, the founder member of the party, urged all partymen to shed their “narrow personal interest” and work for the party’s development. “The misrule of the Congress during its consecutive three terms has hit hard the common people with prices of essentials soaring and the unprecented power crisis”, he said. “The AGP is committed to better governance and it is time that we should all united to dethrone the Congress”, the former chief minister said. Speaking on the occasion as a special guest former Mizoram chief minister and head of the ZMN party Zoramthanga said it was the need of the hour that the regional forces unite. (PTI)
