SHILLONG: The Rashtriya Hindi Vikas Sammelan organised jointly by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Purvottar Hindi Academy (PHA) concluded at Shri Rajasthan Vishram Bhawan here on Sunday.

Jaiaw legislator Paul Lyngdoh, who was the chief guest at the inaugural session said that Hindi is largely followed by the people in Meghalaya who are also into the language like anybody else as they watch Hindi channels besides even working in Hindi. Lyngdoh informed the gathering that for the promotion of Hindi in the state and region, a centre of Kendriya Hindi Sansthan (KHS), Agra will be set up and land will be provided for the same.

Meanwhile, around 88 participants took part in the three-day event which focused on spreading the national language across the country.

Alesia Macouskaya, who came all-the-way from Belarus to participate in the event learnt Hindi from a fellow Belarusian and later graduated in the subject from KHS, Agra.
