SHILLONG: After six days of recovery of the body of a woman from the Shillong Club premises, the identity of the deceased woman was established on Wednesday.

Relatives of the deceased woman came forward to claim the body kept in the morgue of the Shillong Civil Hospital on Wednesday.

The deceased woman was identified as Meera Sunar (50) of Mawprem.

Additional SP (Crime) Vivek Syiem informed that the deceased was living alone as her son was married.

“The woman had lived in a charity home for some time and earned a living by collecting scraps,” he said.

“We have also been informed that the woman was mentally unstable and used to move from one place to another,” Syiem added.

Earlier, based on preliminary investigation of the body, police had informed that there were injury marks on the ribs and her liver was damaged.
