SHILLONG: In order to improve the power transmission and distribution infrastructure in the Northeastern region, the Centre has sought $1.5bn from the World Bank. Meghalaya along with the other northeastern states are going to benefit from this project the information document of which will be ready by the beginning of next month.

Aimed at augmenting the present power transmission and distribution in the region, the project will see increased availability of power in the region, besides maintaining consistency – a key issue particularly in Meghalaya and the region in general.
