SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has indirectly indicated that the State Congress is not going to support former Lok Sabha Speaker Purno A Sangma’s bid for Presidency.

“The members of the Congress party do not behave as rogue element or rogue members,” Dr Sangma said when asked if the State Congress would extend support to Purno.

Admitting that UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi has decided to seek suggestion from the Congress chief ministers on the choice of the presidential candidate, Dr Sangma refused to divulge much on the whole exercise. He also added that the party has an inherent system in place to engage in these kinds of exercise.
