MLCU students organise AIDS sensitisation prog

 NONGPOH: In a bid to sensitise people on prevention of HIV AIDS and curving improper treatment met out to HIV patients, students of Martin Luthe Christian University (MLCU) organised a sensitisatuon programme in and around Nongpoh on Monday.

The 4th semester students of the Social Work department started the programme, which was organised in collaboration with he NSS Red Ribbon Club, Ri-Bhoi College and Manbha Foundation, with a mock drill under the theme ‘Stigma and Discrimination’.

Counselors of the Aids Control Society, Nongpoh Civil Society, Christine Najer and Franky Nongsiej were the resource persons while Dr. Ashutosh Dey, NSS’s Programme Officer, Vice Principal of Ri-Bhoi College E.C Benny and students of Ri-Bhoi College attended the programme.

The resource persons, highlighted the various ways a person can get infected with HIV AIDS while stating that people suffering from the disease should be treated well in the society.
