Ranbir Kapoor fails to appear before Udaipur court

Last month, in Udaipur, while Ranbir Kapoor was

shooting for his upcoming film Yeh Jawani Hai

Deewani, a local section of the press photographed him allegedly smoking in public.

To this effect, a complaint under CrPC Section 156(3) was lodged at a court in Udaipur following which Ranbir was summoned to appear before the court on Tuesday. And since he failed to be present in the local court, the court has asked him to appear before it on July 26.

Harendra Singh, who is the In-Charge of Udaipur’s Ghanta Ghar police station, said that Ranbir has been booked for violation of Section 5 of Rajasthan Prevention of Smoking Act.

Readers may note that if the charges are proved, Ranbir may be sentenced to 6-month imprisonment or be levied a penalty of Rs. 200. (Agencies)
