Punjab MLA’s statement decried

The National Youth Congress, Meghalaya has condemned the reckless statement made by a Congress MLA from Punjab with regards to sending all stray dogs to the North East. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, NYC working president Clifford M Nengnong said strictest disciplinary action should be taken against the legislator for his remarks.

Workshop

Martin Luther Christian University, Tura Campus in collaboration with ICSSR-NERC Shillong is organising a one-day workshop on Human Rights on Friday at SMELC Building, Dakopgre including a panel discussion slated for 3 pm.

Exhibition

The District School Education Officer, East Khasi Hills is organising a two-day Science exhibition at St. Mary’s HS School, Laitumkhrah on Thursday and Friday from 11 am onwards.

Symposium

All India Radio Shillong is organsing a one-day symposium on Khasi Poetry entitled Na thwei ka dohnud where resource persons will dwell on Khasi poetry from oral and early poetry from 1981 to 2010 and also on the impact of poetry on the society at Don Bosco Youth Centre on Thursday from 10 am.

Hemp seized

BSF personnel recently seized three kilograms of hemp from West Khasi Hills while it was being smuggled to Bangladesh. In another incident, BSF troops deployed in West Garo Hills apprehended one Md Arful Islam, a smuggler, while he was entering India from Bangladesh. The arrested person has revealed that he had crossed over to Bangladesh two days ago and was involved in smuggling activities.
