Jowai: The LPG distributors of Jowai will start home delivery of LPG cylinders from the first week of August.

The decision to this effect was taken during a meeting between a group of LPG consumers in Jowai under the leadership of Sajeki Passah and the LPG distributors.

The deputy Commissioner of Jaintia Hills district S. Syiemlieh convened the meeting following a complaint by a group of consumers about irregular supply of LPG.

According to Sajeki Passah, the consumers demanded implementation of home delivery system as par the order issued Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, in 2000.

Another consumer said that there has been an unregulated and unsystematic supply of LPG cylinders in Jowai and that the present practice may invite unwanted incidents especially during times of crisis (Short supply of cylinders). “If the same can be implemented in Shillong then Jowai is no exception” added another consumer.

The LPG distributors namely Rymbai Gas Agency and Ripnar Gas Agency stated the problem is because of short supply of LPG in Jowai in the past few days.
