Restoration work

The Sub Divisional Officer, PWD (Roads), Lawbah Border Roads sub-division Mawsynram has informed that the temporary restoration work at 9th kilometer of Phlangsynnei-Tynger-Dewsaw raod which collapsed in July could not be taken up due to continuous erosion on the downhill side of the road due to monsoon.

Vanamahotsav

The Vanamahotsav 2012 will be celebrated at Lawmali hall on Saturday. The Forest and Environment Minister Prestone Tynsnong will be the chief guest on the occasion.

Clarification

Apropos the news item ‘Sohra eco-restoration prog making good progress’ (ST, July 12), the soil and Water Conservation director D Langstieh has clarified that Israel-based firm, ARGOS (Agri Projects) Ltd has no role in the ongoing eco-restoration programme of Sohra. He also informed that 11 lakh seedlings were planted in the first year and not 1172500 as reported.
