Documentary
On the occasion of the 177th Death Anniversary of U Tirot Sing Syiem, Doordarshan Kendra Shillong will telecast a Documentary U Tirot Sing Syiem & U Kiang Nangbah – the Patriots on Tuesday at 5.30pm. The Film was produced by Films Division Mumbai, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India and directed by S Sweety Diengdoh. This is the first film ever produced on the freedom struggle by the two great martyrs of the State.
Prohibition
The Sub Divisional Magistrate, Sohra Civil Sub Division has prohibited any persons or organisations from collecting boulders from the whole stretch of Shella Umiam river and Thariaghat and within 100 metres on both sides of the river banks.
Workshop
The state level orientation workshop on micro-organisms ‘Let us observe and Learn’ was organised by the State Council of Science, Technology and Environment, Meghalaya from July 11-13 at the Science Centre, NEHU with an objective to train teachers on a special module developed by Cotton College, Guwahati along with the Botanical Hobby Centre, Cotton College, to study the micro-organisms. Selected science teachers from all the districts attended the workshop.
Unclaimed body
One Nor Bahadur (male, 90) of Rakhi Dairy Shop at Polo was admitted at Shillong Civil Hospital on June 11 and passed away on July 9. Hospital authorities have asked the relatives to collect the body from the hospital within three days failing which the body will be send for disposal by the Shillong Municipal Board.
Wanted
One Bijoy Kumar Roy alias Bijan alias Borun (39), resident of Laban Last Stop and originally from Manipur is wanted at the Laban PS in connection with several cheating cases. He is son of Late Sunil Kumar Roy. He is 5-and-half feet tall with swarthy complexion and a long face. He has a moustache and French beard and has a business in mobiles.
