SHILLONG: The Khasi Pnar Gas Agency has initiated the process of re-verifying the details of consumers using the LPG connection.

The manager of the Khasi Pnar Gas Agency on Tuesday informed that the verification process is going to find out whether any consumer is in possession of more than one LPG connection.

“There are many consumers who have 2-3 connections. We want to find out such consumers through the process,” the manager added.

However, consumers have complained that the Gas Agency had conducted a similar exercise a few years back.

The consumers, many of them senior citizens, have also complained that the re-verification process is an additional burden to them since they have to stand in a long queue almost for the entire day for the re-verification.

Many consumers have also questioned the behaviour of some of the staffs of the Gas Agency during the re-verification process.

“The staff are uncooperative and behave rudely with the even the ladies if they find any fault in the filled-up application form,” a consumer told this scribe.

When approached, the manager of the gas Agency denied the allegations of rude behaviour levied by the consumers.

“It’s not true and sometimes the consumers also don’t cooperate with us as many of them don’t fill up the forms correctly,” the manager added.

When contacted, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply) Sanjay Goyal said, “If people have any issues or complaints against the concerned gas Agency, they can bring it to my knowledge.”

Goyal said the re-verification process is being carried out to unearth bogus card holders and to find out whether the LPG card holder is a genuine consumer or not.
