Investiture ceremony

 SHILLONG: Continuing its bid to contribute to the development of youngsters into responsible citizens of the country, the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides formed the SOS Unit here on Friday.

In the first of its kind initiative, altogether 25 guides and scouts of the SOS Children’s Village, Umïam took oath at the Investiture Ceremony to take up scouting and guiding at the community level. The objective of the Scouts and Guides of the Asia Pacific Region is to ensure community based scouting and guiding in places including churches and orphanages. The Special Officer, Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides W Tariang while speaking about this initiative termed the achievement as commendable. Senior Government officials were also present on the occasion.
