Ace fashion designer

Neeta Lulla, who will

present her collection ‘Radha’ at the Lakme Fashion Week here, says it is a fusion of Indian and Western sensibilities, mirroring feminity and grace.

“Radha has always been a symbol of grace and she is the epitome of beauty and romance. This seemed to be a huge inspiration for my creation for this season. It is this feminity and grace that I would like to depict in my collection,” Lulla told PTI in an interview.

I have depicted Radha’s many moods and avatars and the jewellery weaves in perfectly with the outfits to bring this to life,” she said.

As the name ‘Radha’ suggests, it seems the collection will be traditional but the designer says there are bits of western cuts.

“The collection is Indian in its essence through its textures and fabrics and has western cuts to its silhouettes. It is a fusion that looks romantic and graceful,” she said.

Lulla’s collection has always attracted big names from Bollywood. On who will be her ‘Radha’ (show stopper), she said “I won’t say much, you have to wait and watch.”

Elaborating on the collection Lulla said, “there are a variety of colours… the concept on each outfit is color blocking with 2-3 colours…the collection is colourful and festive in its mood.” “In case of jewelry, there will be pure 22 carat gold mimics with creamy sandalwood like complexion, pink tourmalines in kundan blush and vivid meenakari,” Lulla said. “There will be kangans, baju bandhs adorned with uncut diamonds and precious stones set in classic floral patterns,” she said. The five-day fashion extravaganza starts on August 3 at a suburban five star hotel. (PTI)
