Truck owners and coal dealers irked

 JOWAI: The hike of the Transits Challan for transportation of coal to outside the state has irked the coal traders and the Jaintia hills trucks owners’ Association (JHTOA). According to the JHTOA President, Helping Phawa, the government through the Directorate of Mineral Resources (DMR) has increase the price of the Transits challan from Rs. 290 to Rs. 675. “Earlier for 9 metric tons of coal transported to Assam we are paying Rs. 2610 and since June 22, Truck owners and coal dealers has to pay Rs 6075 for the same quantity of coal to be transported to Beltola in Assam”, he added.
