SHILLONG: The State BJP has slammed Dr Mukul Sangma on his recent statements when he sought people’s help to check influx and termed his plea as “crocodile tears”

In a statement issued here on Sunday, BJP said, “Neither Dr Mukul Sangma nor his party is serious about the issue of infiltration and they are rather encouraging it for their vote bank politics.”

“If our Chief Minister was really concerned over the issue, he would have taken a correct policy to check infiltration in the State,” he said while adding that the infiltration check gates in the State are mere show pieces.

Earlier, Dr Sangma stated that the Govt alone cannot address influx issue without the support of the common people. It requires the active support of the traditional institutions, NGOs and stakeholders as well.
