Vilasrao Deshmukh passes away

Chennai: Vilasrao Deshmukh, Union Minister and Congress stalwart from Maharashtra, died in a city hospital here on Tuesday after plans for a liver transplant came unstuck following the demise of the donor.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on Tuesday condoled Deshmukh’s demise.

Deshmukh would always be remembered as a prominent leader, respected for his valuable and dedicated service rendered to Maharashtra and the nation as a whole. His death is a great loss to the nation and the people of Maharashtra in particular, Dr Sangma said. (PTI)
