GNLA cadre held

BSF troops deployed in Dalu, West Garo Hills along with the State Police carried out a joint operation on Tuesday and apprehended a GNLA cadre identified as Silvastin R Marak (23). A blank GNLA demand note and a mobile phone with an Indian SIM card were seized from his possession. During questioning, the cadre revealed that he was involved in abduction of two businessmen from Dalu besides throwing grenade in Chokpot and other extortion cases.

Road mishap

Two persons were injured when a Mahindra Pick-up truck travelling towards Mankachar from Ampati went off the road at Sipra Village under Betasingh Block in South West Garo Hills on Monday evening. The injured – Mitul Shiek (35) and Atif Miah (40) – were admitted at the Ampati CHC.

Aircel tower locked

The FKJGP and KSU Nongstoin Circle on Tuesday shut down the Aircel Tower at Mawlangkhar, Nongstoin. Local distributors and shopkeepers who are selling Aircel top-up and recharge vouchers have been asked to stop their sale till the time the network provider improves its services. The NGOs also rejected the proposal from the concerned company to unlock the tower until the company rectifies the network problem in the area.
