Guwahati: A top functionary of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has been reported missing for the last fortnight, along with Rs one crore meant for central party funds from the state committee of Arunachal Pradesh.

APCC sources said here on Saturday that Rajesh Joshi, the state unit’s media secretary, has been reported missing since September nine last after he had taken into his custody Rs one crore from the party’s functionaries from Arunachal Pradesh. The Congress workers from Arunachal Pradesh were carrying Rs one crore sent for central party funds sent by their Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.

Mr Joshi, who was a close aide of Mr Tuki after being attached to him during 2011 Assam Assembly polls for which Mr Tuki was the state observer, had met the Congressmen at Guwahati and arranged for their stay at a city hospital.

The Congressmen were scheduled to leave for Howrah the next day and Mr Joshi offered to keep the cash with him in his safe custody.

Mr Joshi has been reported missing since he left the hotel with the cash on September nine night and his house was found locked.

The Arunachal Congress men have lodged a police complaint against Mr Joshi at Itanagar and Mr Tuki has also reportedly spoken to Assam CM Tarun Gogoi over the matter. (UNI)
