Agartala: The entire opposition walked out the last day of monsoon session of 10th Tripura legislative assembly alleging non-compliance of the commitment by the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.

In question hour opposition MLAs targeted Chief Minister and criticised him several times while he was answering queries related to home department.

The opposition legislators were irked over the refusal of handing over the case of unnatural death of two tribal youths in March last in Jirania to CBI.

“The chief minister earlier in budget session of the assembly had made it clear that govt did not have any objection to hand over the case of Rabi Debbarma and Litan Debbarma case to CBI who were allegedly murdered by CPM cadres but later the government refused,” alleged Leader of the opposition Ratan Lal Nath.

Mr Nath said within 72 hours of the incident Chief Minister himself stated that both the youths had been died in road accident despite the victim families alleging it’s a pre-planned murder and allegedly, Mr Sarkar diverted the investigation to save the party cadres.

After question hours, opposition leader Mr Nath demanded clarification from Speaker R C Debnath why the privilege motion moved against Chief Minister did not accepted.

He alleged that Chief Minister in the house committed to send to case to CBI but later govt shifted the stand, which amount to be breached of privilege of the assembly.

Finally, opposition walked out from the house alleging that going beyond all ethical and procedural norms of legislative business, the ministers including the chief minister were not compiling the commitment made in the house and speaker entertains them.

Later, Lokayukta amendment bill was passed without opposition that included all levels of government employees into purview of the Act and Chief Minister claimed, it would help the government to bring transparency in governance. (UNI)
