New office bearers
The people’s rights forum-Meghalaya has elected new office bearers with Kenneth Shadap as president, Danny B Shadap as vice president, Wanpynhun Kharsyntiew as general secretary cum financial secretary besides other executive members.

The All India Poetess Conference, Meghalaya Chapter, is organising the 3rd Meghalaya Poetry Competition for students and the public on October 30.

Awareness
The Meghalaya Youth Foundation in collaboration with the Meghalaya State Network for Positive People (MSNP+), will be organising an awareness campaign on ‘Career Counselling, Substance Misuse & Stigma and Discrimination on HIV/AIDS’ at Holy Cross School, Mawkynrew, East Khasi Hills on Thursday at 10:30am.
Computer training
The IDAA Foundation will provide free computer training to unemployed youths of the State. The course duration will be for sixty to ninety days to commence from September 30.
Health camp
Punjabi Sabha of Shillong organised a health checkup and medical camp at Tyrsad village on Sunday where over 200 adults and children were examined and provided free medicines.
Exhibition
North Eastern Services of AIR, Shillong will organise an exhibition cum demonstration on preparedness and better coordination during natural disasters in collaboration with Civil Defence and Home Guards at Umsawli village on September 28 at 10 am.
Literacy award
The 9th Literacy Award 2012 will be presented on September 29 at Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides Auditorium, Pine Mount lane.
Puja committee
The Ka Irish Shullai Durga Puja Committee, Lawsohtun Road has formed a new puja committee to celebrate Durga Puja, Lakshmi Puja and Kali Puja at the Bishnupur community hall.
Health programme
A workshop cum health awareness programme on ‘Prevention of Cardiac Death’ was organised by Composite Hospital BSF, Shillong in association with the BSF Wives Welfare Association on Tuesday. Approximately 300 officers and other ranks of various BSF establishments in Shillong attended the workshop.
