General meeting
The Seng Samla Mawlai Mawdatbaki will hold its general meeting at Indoor Sports Hall (Mawapkhaw) on October 2 at 6pm.
Contraband seized
The BSF on Saturday afternoon seized 10kgs of Ganja worth Rs 70,000 while it was being smuggled into Bangladesh. However, the smuggler managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness and thick vegetation. The seized items have been handed over to the concerned department for further disposal.
Awareness
The Dinet Manik Syiem Memorial School organised an awareness programme recently and conducted by the civil defence and home gurad training institute, Mawdiangdiang. The programme focussed on imparting training to the students and teachers on steps to be taken during natural calamities.
Seizure
The excise staff of East Khasi Hills detected around 49 cases with a seizure of 103.550 litres of i/d liquor and 10.455 litres IMFL during the month of August from restaurants, stalls in town and its outskirts. In this connection, 49 persons were arrested under excise act.
Get-together
A get-together was organised by the All Jaintia Biate Youth Welfare Organization (AJBYWO) at Jowai on Saturday with an aim to strengthen the relationships between the youth of Biate. The meet was attended by over 100 youth and Narpuh MDC Dr MS Tangkra was present as the chief guest.
