TURA: The employees of MeECL and the Association of Power Engineers (APE), while condemning the assault on Assistant Executive Engineer, Dalu (Distribution) Sub-Division, J Deka, by unknown miscreants have resolved to enforce power supply shut down in areas falling under Dalu Distribution Sub-Division from 9am to 1pm for three days from October 5.

According to the MeECL employees, on September 27 last at around 10pm, unidentified miscreants barged into the official residence of J Deka and physically assaulted him while blaming him for disruption of power supply in the area. The official sustained serious injury in the assault.

The MeECL employees, while strongly condemning the assault, have urged the West Garo Hills Administration to immediately book the culprits.

The MeECL Engineers’ Association and APE have jointly decided to hold an agitation programme against the alleged failure on part of the West Garo Hills District Administration to book the culprits.

The employees have also decided to take recourse to stronger course of action if the culprits are not booked and stringent action taken against them under the law.
